A violinist looking for a quality instrument is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

On one hand most music shops sell , frankly, very poor quality and very badly set up instruments at up to £300.00 . These are mostly completely unplayable, without considerable setup expense. To set an instrument up to the standards we apply would cost over £150.00 alone. Add to this the cost of a Quality bridge and strings, this will add a further £60 to that bill. You would then still only have a well set up but poor quality instrument

On the other hand traditional quality Violin specialists will rarely supply a high quality violin at much under £800.00. It is still unlikely to be of the quality we achieve. Set up costs in excess of £150.00 could still be added to make the instrument playable.
